WordGirl is an American children’s animated television series for children aged 9 –12, produced by the Soup2Nuts animation unit of Scholastic Entertainment for PBS Kids. The show began as a series of shorts that premiered on PBS Kids Go! on November 10, 2006, usually shown at the end of Maya & Miguel; the segment was then spun off into a new thirty-minute episodic series that premiered on September 3, 2007 on most Public Broadcasting Service member stations. This animated show is aimed at children six to twelve years old, but viewers older than this demographic have been reported as well. It is designed to teach about the expansive English language and its vocabulary. All four seasons each have twenty-six episodes. The show is also seen on some educational networks in Canada, including Knowledge in British Columbia and TVOntario, as well as Discovery Kids in Latin America. The program is also syndicated internationally in places such as Australia and Italy. The Spanish version is called "Chica Supersabia" and it is translated and dubbed in Caracas, Venezuela, and the Brazilian version is called "Garota Supersábia". There is a Catalan version called "La Súper Mots" and a Portuguese version called "Super Sabina". The show has received six Daytime Emmy nominations, winning three for "Outstanding Writing in Animation" in 2008, 2012, and 2013.

The Big City Times announces a writing contest prize: win a day with WordGirl! A chance at a full-day encounter with everyone's favorite superhero causes TJ and Tobey to go to extremes to win -- ending in a robot-filled squabble at the library. Scoops and Violet also get involved, though they may be more interested in winning the contest than the prize. In the end, Violet wins with her poem about cookies. Vocab words: Encounter, Squabble.

Episode 21 - Who's Your Granny?
First Aired: March. 14,2013

Granny May decides to become more notorious by committing bigger crimes involving crazy contraptions. Meanwhile, Becky is frustrated that she does not appear in any yearbook photos since she always has to escape to fight crime as WordGirl. Will WordGirl ever be able to get her photo in the yearbook and find time to interact with the new, hi-tech Granny May? Vocab words: Interact, Contraption.

Episode 20 - Best Fan Club Meeting Ever
First Aired: March. 13,2013

TJ plans a meeting to divulge a secret about WordGirl to International WordGirl Fan Club members. The club was previously featured in Have You Seen the Remote? where more members were shown. When Tobey finds out that a secret about his love/nemesis will be revealed, he crashes the meeting with an eavesdropping robot and threatens to destroy the clubhouse. WordGirl has to spring into action to save the clubhouse and her fans! Vocab words: Divulge, Eavesdrop.

Episode 19 - Day at the Museum

Scoops takes Becky & Bob Botsford and Violet to the museum to find inspiration for his news story for The Big City Times. When they hear a rumor about a haunted treasure, the team goes on a search -- with The Butcher right behind! Can Scoops, Becky, Bob, and Violet find the treasure, evade The Butcher, and do it all in time for Scoops to keep his deadline? Vocab words: Rumor, Deadline.

Episode 17 - Monkey Business

After a battle, WordGirl accidentally leaves Captain Huggy Face behind (again). So he spends the day doing all of his favorite things. When an overzealous Chuck strikes, it's up to Captain Huggy Face to single-handedly save the day. Vocab words: Recall, Zeal.

Episode 16 - House Arrest

While Chuck's jail cell is being painted, he is put under house arrest at the Botsfords. Becky is stuck spending more time waiting on Chuck rather than fighting the other villains (Dr. Two Brains, Dr. Two-Brains' Henchmen, Big Left Hand Guy, Tobey, Birthday Girl & Energy Monster). Episode 14 - Art in the Park
