In the 1970s, there were 5 crude oil refineries in Poland. The largest and, at the same time, the most modern of the southern plants was located in Czechowice-Dziedzice. Annually processed 600 thousand tons of black raw material! And it was for her that 1971 turned out to be tragic.

Episode 1 - The sinking of the "Heweliusz" ferry
First Aired: October. 19,2020

On January 13, 1993, the ferry MF Jan Heweliusz left Świnoujście for another voyage to the Swedish city of Ystad. There were sixty-four people on board. Due to a failure of the stern door, the ferry had a delay which the crew tried to make up for. Unfortunately, an unusually strong storm broke out in the Baltic Sea at night. As a result, Heweliusz sank, and only a few people were saved from the entire crew. Passengers died in the icy waves of the sea.
