Handsome port policeman Robbe Meulemans's wife Mich Nelis is murdered and her corps dropped in the river after she left a yacht-club champagne party on notary Willem Sanders's yacht. Shortly after, the notary is murdered too. Robbe is shattered when the investigation reveals his wife's infidelity, yet his suicide by slitting his wrists in bath turns out staged again.
