Holmes on Homes is a Canadian television series featuring general contractor Mike Holmes visiting homeowners who are in need of help, mainly due to unsatisfactory home renovations performed by hired contractors. The series originally aired on Home & Garden Television in Canada, and also on several other Alliance Atlantis networks in Canada, as well as in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and on HGTV in the United States. It had previously aired in the US on Discovery Home until that channel was rebranded Planet Green on June 4, 2008. It was once the highest-rated show on the Canadian HGTV, with shows airing upwards of 20 times a week at the peak of its popularity. It has won the Gemini viewers' choice award, a testament to the popularity of the show in Canada. Originally, Holmes on Homes ran as a series of 30-minute episodes, but moved to a one-hour format midway through the third season due to popular demand. Several longer specials have aired: the one-hour season finale to the first season, Whole House Disaster; the one-hour Holmes for the Holidays at the end of the third season; the two-hour House to Home season finale for the fourth season; the two-hour specials Out of the Ashes and Holmes Inspection in the fifth season; the two-hour sixth-season episode Pasadena 911; and the two-hour Lien on Me in the final season. The latest episode is available for viewing on HGTV's website. The first five seasons of half-hour and hour long episodes, as well as the "Holmes for the Holidays" episode, are also available for purchase on DVD. Season seven commenced airing in Australia on 1 October 2008 on the HOW TO Channel and in the UK on 24 March 2009 on Discovery Shed.

After a couple buys the house of their dreams they hired a contractor to install a fireplace in their family room. After the job wasn't completed Mike Holmes and his crew were called in to complete the job.

Episode 12 - Semi-Dilemma
First Aired: November. 04,2004

A leaky upstairs shower has lead to a crack appearing in a newlywed couple's kitchen ceiling. Mike Holmes and his crew come to the rescue, repairing both the shower and the ceiling, and making some changes to the delight of the home-owners.

Episode 11 - Honeymoon Ensuite
First Aired: October. 21,2004

After hiring a contractor to build an addition on their home, a couple found that the work had been given to a subcontractor who was now in a money dispute with their original contractor. After making a new deal with the subcontractor to finish the job, they were crestfallen to discover that the subcontractor also took their money and left the job unfinished. Now it is up to Mike Holmes and his crew to straighten out the mess.

After a lengthy battle with contractors a couple learns that their second floor renovation has been done poorly. Mike and his crew are brought in to repair various plumbing, ventilation and electrical problems.

When a women wants to surprise her son with a new basement gym and bathroom, she hires a contractor to do the work. After delays and sloppy work she had to call in Mike Holmes and his crew to straighten out the job.

A women hired a contractor to rebuild a retaining wall in her backyard, however after the first winter the retaining wall had warped significantly. Mike Holmes and his crew were called in to rebuild the wall with proper drainage.

After a contractor builds a cheap staircase in their home, a couple turns to Mike Holmes to demolish the old work and build a new staircase.

Just after buying a brand new two-story house, a women discovered that there was an outstanding work permit on the home, including the need to repair a backyard deck that failed a safety inspection. After a lengthy legal battle, Mike Holmes is brought in to repair the deck and bring the home up to code.
