Pauline, Petrova and Posy are inspired by their house borders Mr Simpson, Dr Jakes and Theo Dane, and vow to "put their names in the history books" giving service to their country. They vow to do that, and repeat the vow every Christmas and birthday.
Posy learns that she should pursue her studies in Russia, while Pauline is forced to change her attitude toward her own dancing skills.
Pauline and Petrova are to dance the leads in a public performance, but first Petrova must conquer her stage fright.
Great-uncle Matthew returns and finds that the girls are well on the way to realising their professional goals.
