The six-part series follows journalist Hannis Martinsson (Ulrich Thomsen), who unexpectedly receives a message from Sonja, a young Faroese woman who claims she is Hannis' daughter and that her life is in danger. Reluctantly returning home to the Faroes to investigate, Hannis discovers Sonja's body in the bloody waters of a whale hunt. After a mysterious message from local activist Sonja á Heyggi, who claims she is his daughter and that her life is now in danger, journalist Hannis Martinsson returns home to the Faroe Islands.
As the mystery surrounding Sonja deepens, Detective Inspector Karla Mohr must work quickly to appease Hannis, her superiors and the local community. Meanwhile, Hannis launches his own investigation.
Karla comes across new evidence that makes her question everything. Hannis continues his investigation into his daughter's death and tries to piece together the clues Sonja left behind.
